YouTube has a new built-in screenshot feature you can test — here’s how

Posted on:

Google just made taking a screenshot on YouTube much easier. Here’s how to do it.

Google has a new feature — currently in beta — that helps users take screenshots on YouTube.

The feature, which apparently will soon make its way to all Chrome users, is super simple and helpful.

Here’s how it works:

  • Pause a YouTube video while watching it in Chrome

  • Right-click the video

  • A drop-down menu reveals the option “Save video frame as”

  • Save the image as a PNG

User @Leopeva64 showed how the feature works on X.

The feature should prove helpful when you want a screenshot of just the video frame. This should remove the hassle of doing it manually or cropping down a screenshot of your entire screen. With just a couple clicks, you’ll have an image of the video in the same resolution as the video itself.
