Pornhub’s Year in Review shows that boomers are into trans porn

Porn habits can be telling. Take Pornhub‘s Year in Review; in 2022, the tube giant showed that women are increasingly on the site, and watching lesbian porn.

This year, Pornhub’s Year in Review — the site’s tenth — shows that boomers (which Pornhub considers people 55 and older) are increasingly watching trans porn. In terms of percent difference in popularity when compared to all other ages, boomers were 58 percent more interested in transgender porn than younger folks:

Contrast this with 2022 research from the Pew Research Center, where 41 percent of 50-64 year-olds and 42 percent of adults 65 and older said that society has “gone too far” in accepting trans people.

That’s not to say that watching porn makes you accepting — and there are certainly boomers who are trans or otherwise LGBTQ themselves. Considering Gen Z is the most LGBTQ generation thus far, though (20.8 percent identify as LGBTQ compared to 2.6 percent of boomers, according to a 2022 Gallup poll), it’s notable that trans porn is more popular amongst the latter.

And that’s not the only LGBTQ category on the boomer list; “bisexual male” porn is 38 percent more popular among boomers than other generations.

Now let’s look at the top relative categories for Gen Z — meaning, the percent difference in popularity compared to other ages:

Compared to older adults, Gen Z is 146 percent more into cosplay porn, and 94 percent more interested in hentai (pornographic anime or manga). Trans porn doesn’t show up here, but it does in the graphs for millennials and Gen X (+20 percent and +24 percent, respectively).

In terms of gender breakdowns, once again, “lesbian” was the top category among female viewers. Scissoring porn was 196 percent more viewed by women than men and trans porn was 175 percent more viewed by women than men.

Overall, Pornhub identified several trends that won the year:

  1. “Mature” and “MILF” porn

  2. Porn featuring “big” or “massive” body parts

  3. Sex machines like androids or robots

  4. Uniforms, like soldiers or cops

  5. Therapy, including sex and massage therapy
