HiPhi A revealed as tri-motor electric hypercar with 1287bhp

Chinese premium electric car maker HiPhi has revealed a powerful four-door, four-seat hypercar that will arrive in 2025 with performance to challenge the likes of the Rimac Nevera.

The hypercar, named the HiPhi A, features a tri-motor set-up and produces a staggering 1287bhp. With one motor mounted to the front axle and two to the rear, HiPhi claims a 0-62mph sprint of around 2.0sec with a top speed of 187mph.

While HiPhi is yet to detail battery specifications such as range or capacity, the firm says it features a unit developed in-house. The brand claims, however, that the battery is capable of “discharging 1.5MW of power at its peak”

Its motor technology, which HiPhi says is “lightweight, compact, ultra-quiet and upgradable”, will come from WESAIL New Energy Automotive.

HiPhi added that the A will feature active rear-wheel steering, variable damping and a 50:50 weight distribution, plus torque vectoring which it says improved cornering by 15% and braking performance by 10%.

As for its design, the HiPhi A features similar design elements to the HiPhi Z saloon and the HiPhi X SUV, both of which launched in Europe earlier this year. This includes the brand’s unique front bonnet and headlight designs.

The HiPhi A also features carbon fibre elements throughout, plus matte paint, a large rear wing and wider tyres than the rest of the brand’s model range. Inside, the HiPhi A claims a “driver-focused set up” with a suite of digital technology, plus room for two in the back.

Chinese technology company Human Horizons launched the HiPhi EV brand in 2017, making the leap into Europe earlier this year. It led its launch with the boldly styled HiPhi Z saloon and the HiPhi X SUV, which are both set to cost around £100,000 in the UK.

Taking those prices into account, it’s likely the new A hypercar will command a hefty price tag when it launches on the continent. HiPhi says more information will be revealed in the coming months.
