‘Here’ trailer throws Tom Hanks and Robin Wright into the uncanny valley

Director Robert Zemeckis reunites with Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright for Here, based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire.

The film follows the events that take place at one fixed location over time, from the age of the dinosaurs all the way up to now. In the trailer, we watch as a house is built in the location. A family moves in, and several generations grow up there.

But the real sticking point of the trailer is its use of de-aging technology, which turns stars Hanks and Wright into teenagers. The result looks even creepier than Hanks and Zemeckis’ The Polar Express, which is itself a terrifying journey into the uncanny valley. You just have to see it to believe it.

Here hits theaters Nov. 15.
