FF7 Rebirth Leads A Fantastical February Of Game Releases

February 2024 has arrived, and with it a fresh calendar of exciting new game releases. From anti-hero super heroes, to returns of classic titles, to one of the most anticipated RPGs of the year, February looks stacked.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – February 1

Play it on: PS5, PS4, Windows

A followup to a Japanese free-to-play mobile game, Granblue Fantasy: Relink features an engaging combat system in a bright and beautiful fantasy world. In Kotaku’s review of Relink, Josh Broadwell said:

Relink’s story and cast are charming, but Cygames’ excellent battle system shines even brighter. Each character has basic and strong attacks that can be chained into combos. Each character gradually learns new skills to weave into these combos—strategically, as they all have cooldown timers of varying length—and you’re expected to make use of blocking and dodging to stay alive.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – February 2

Suicide Squad may have struggled to impress early on, with online connection fumbles for those who bought into its early access period. But with its full release arriving on February 2, we’ll see if it just offers more of the same live-servicey, battle-pass drenched muck that tires all of us out, or if it can deliver on the promise of being a direct follow-up to Rocksteady’s earlier Arkham games.

Persona 3 Reload – February 2

A complete remake of Persona 3, Kotaku staff writer Kenneth Shepard described Reload in our review as:

[…] a case study in the “this looks like how I imagined it as a kid” phenomenon of remakes because this game looks stunning. The riffs on Persona 5’s stylish menus, gorgeous color palettes, and sleek transitions make it look like a truly modern Persona game while maintaining the original’s unique visual and tonal identity. . It doesn’t feel like anything’s been lost in smoothing out the edges of an old game for a modern audience, it feels like a modern realization of what made it special in the first place.

A third-person co-operative PvE shooter that tasks you with taking on vicious alien adversaries, Helldivers 2 lets you customize unique loadouts to take on evolving threats.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden – February 13

After a brief delay, Banishers finally arrives on February 13 with a duo-protagonist action RPG experience that has you banishing the souls of the dead to stop them from haunting the living.

Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior – February 13

Combining Hades-looking action with time-bending powers, Lysfanga lets you deploy replicas of your past self to take on speedy enemies.

Well, this one took a while, huh? Skull and Bones, the pirate game from Ubisoft that totally looks like more of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (which, hey, was a pretty awesome game) finally arrives on February 16.

A remake of 2004’s Game Boy Advance’s Mario vs. Donkey Kong, this puzzle-based game sees Mario journey through 130 different levels, with each one ending with a showdown against Donkey Kong.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – February 20

A turn-based tactical RPG set in the iconic Warhammer universe, players must fight back against a galaxy-wide plague that’s devouring entire planets.
