When Remedy announced Alan Wake II wouldn’t be released as a physical game ahead of its October 2023 release, it was a bummer. Not just because fans wouldn’t get to have something to put on their shelves, but because it was adding to a worrying trend for video games: game publishers are getting comfortable only releasing their games digitally, which sucks for fans who like physical merch, but is especially shitty for people who live in rural areas without great internet. But now that Alan Wake 2 has been out for a little under a year, Remedy is giving fans something to put on their shelves.

On October 22, Alan Wake 2 will get a physical Deluxe Edition that will retail for $79.99. It will include the game, all the contents of the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Expansion Pass that gives you the Night Springs and Lake House DLCs, a reversible cover art, and a digital copy of the original Alan Wake remaster. Two months later, Remedy will release a bigger Collector’s Edition courtesy of Limited Run Games. This big box of stuff will cost $199.99, but comes with a lot more stuff. On top of all the above, it will include a replica of Alan’s Angel Lamp, a keychain and key replica for the Ocean View Hotel, a pin set, and an art book. Both of these will only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Sorry, PC players.
Pre-orders for both editions will go live tomorrow, June 8. Alan Wake II was Kotaku’s game of the year winner last year. So if you haven’t gotten around to playing it, the physical edition comes with both Alan Wake games. So it sounds like a pretty good way to jump in.
